WMA Regulatory Affairs Update - July 2026

Help Shape the Future of ANSI/WMA 100

World Millwork Alliance is beginning the next revision cycle for ANSI/WMA 100, Standard Method of Determining Structural Performance Ratings of Side-Hinged Exterior Door Systems and Procedures for Component Substitution. As part of this process, WMA will be forming the WMA 100 Consensus Body to review proposed revisions and participate in the standards development process.

ANSI/WMA 100 provides an ANSI-recognized method for determining structural performance ratings for residential side-hinged exterior door systems and includes procedures for component substitution. The upcoming revision cycle is expected to consider updates that reflect current industry needs, evolving code requirements, and practical compliance considerations for manufacturers, distributors, pre-hangers, component suppliers, testing laboratories, code officials, and other interested parties.

Individuals and organizations with a direct and material interest in ANSI/WMA 100 are invited to express their interest in participating on the WMA 100 Consensus Body. Participation provides an opportunity to review proposed revisions, submit comments through the balloting process, and help ensure that the standard continues to serve as a balanced, technically sound, and practical pathway for the door industry.

As an ANSI-recognized standard, WMA follows the ANSI Essential Requirements document which is the foundational set of rules governing the creation and approval of American National Standards. It mandates that any standard must be developed using a fair, transparent, and equitable process known as due process, allowing all materially interested parties to participate and voice their concerns. WMA’s Standards Development Procedures (included below) set forth the steps for Consensus Body review. The Consensus Body will be established to reflect a balance of interests and to support due process consistent with ANSI requirements. WMA encourages participation from materially affected stakeholders across three relevant interest categories: producer, user, and general interest.

Those interested in being considered for the WMA 100 Consensus Body can download and complete the Participation Interest Form (included below) and email it to Jessica Ferris. Additional information regarding the revision process, and proposed scope of revisions will be provided as the process moves forward in August with Consensus Body review and public comment.

WMA appreciates the continued engagement of industry stakeholders and looks forward to a constructive revision process that supports the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of the WMA 100.
