Opening General Session with Keynote Speaker Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF (Ret.)

Description

We’ll open the 2026 WMA Annual Convention & Tradeshow with an unforgettable keynote from Colonel Nicole Malachowski (USAF, Ret.), who brings a powerful and deeply human perspective on leadership, resilience, and navigating change. A combat veteran, former jet fighter pilot, and the first woman to fly with the USAF Thunderbirds, Nicole’s career alone is extraordinary—but it’s her journey beyond the cockpit that truly resonates.

After a distinguished 21-year career, Nicole faced a life-altering battle with a debilitating tick-borne illness that left her unable to walk or speak for months. What followed was not just recovery—but reinvention.

In her keynote, Harnessing Headwinds – Successfully Navigating Change and Adversity, Nicole uses the aviation concept of headwinds as a compelling metaphor for the challenges we all face in business and in life. Attendees will walk away with a renewed mindset on how to face uncertainty, push through failure, and lead with courage—even when the path forward isn’t clear.

As Nicole says, “Failure is the price of entry for achieving something great.”

This is not just a message about resilience—it’s about becoming resurgent.

Hands-On AI Workshop: Build Practical Tools for Your Business

Description

Presented by Shawn Razek, Founder & CEO, Matterhaul

AI is rapidly reshaping how businesses operate—but for many, the challenge isn’t awareness, it’s knowing how to apply it in a meaningful way. This interactive, hands-on workshop is designed to bridge that gap by moving beyond theory and into real-world execution.

In this session, you won’t just hear about AI—you’ll use it. Working from your own laptop, you’ll be guided through a practical, step-by-step approach to building AI-powered tools tailored to your day-to-day workflows. Whether your focus is sales, operations, finance, or leadership, you’ll apply what you’re learning to real tasks and challenges from your own business.

No technical background or coding experience is required. The focus is on simplifying processes, improving accuracy, and helping you and your team work more efficiently. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created at least one functional tool you can immediately put into use, along with a repeatable framework for building many more.

This session is ideal for anyone looking to better understand where AI fits within their organization and how to confidently take the next step. You'll leave with practical tools you can deploy immediately, a repeatable framework you can teach your team, and the confidence to keep building from there.

Space is limited to the first 50 registrants. Attendees must bring a laptop and come ready to participate.

Registration is free but required—be sure to add this session when completing your convention registration.
